The Chili Rasbora, scientifically known as Boraras brigittae, is a captivating nano fish highly sought after for its vibrant coloration and peaceful demeanor. Reaching a minuscule adult size of often less than an inch (2-2.5 cm), these tiny jewels display an intense, fiery red-orange body adorned with a distinct, elongated dark spot or stripe running horizontally along their flanks. This striking contrast makes them pop beautifully against lush green aquascapes. Chili Rasboras are quintessential schooling fish, thriving in groups of at least 8-10, where their collective shimmer creates a mesmerizing display. They prefer a well-planted nano aquarium with dim lighting, dark substrate, and plenty of hiding spots among fine-leaved plants like Java moss or riccia. Ideal water parameters include soft, acidic water (pH 5.0-7.0) with temperatures between 72-80°F (22-27°C). As micropredators, their diet should consist of small, high-quality foods such as crushed flake or micro-pellets, supplemented with live or frozen options like daphnia, cyclops, and baby brine shrimp. Due to their minute size and gentle nature, they are excellent tank mates for other peaceful nano fish, dwarf shrimp, and snails, making them a perfect choice for dedicated nano tanks or densely planted community setups.
